Pastor Jeff - First United Methodist Church

Jeffrey Kelley, Senior Pastor
Email: pastorfumc@neb.rr.com
Office: 402.873.3821

Born in Eastern Kentucky, I knew since I was very young that I wanted to serve God as a pastor. After attending college and seminary I was a pastor for thirteen years in Kentucky before moving to Nebraska.

I began my role as pastor of the Nebraska City church in 1998 moving my family to this great area. It has been and continues to be a very rewarding experience in reaching people for Jesus Christ and seeing how a relationship with Jesus can and does change lives.

I look forward to the coming years focusing on building up followers of Jesus to change the world. My life verse continues to be Acts 13:36, "David served God's purpose in his own generation, and then he died.” To serve God’s purpose for my life is a goal I stretch for daily.

Vance Krager - Youth Leader

Vance Kraeger, Youth Leader
Email: vgkraeger@juno.com
Office: 402.873.3821

Spouse: Vicki Kraeger

Focus of Position:
The youth leader of the First United Methodist Church is responsible for creating and implementing programs for Middle School and High School youth. These programs are to include, but are not limited to, weekly meetings and occasional outings held seperately for high school and middle schoolage youth. Along with weekly meetings the youth leader is expected to promote youth participation in the Sunday Services and other ministries of the church. This includes being responsible for the Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast annually.

Your History in the Position:
In 2001 I was asked to be a small group leader in the youth ministry lead by my predecessor. When the position became open I was encouraged by the other small group leaders to apply for the position. After a large amount of prayer and consultation with trusted advisors I applied for the position and then accepted when it was offered .

Mission:
The mission of the First United Methodist Youth Ministry is to display the Love and Lordship of Jesus Christ and lead youth to except Jesus as their Lord and Savior. There is nothing the ministry can do that will cause kids to become Christians, but those of us who call on the name of the Lord are instructed to live lives that testify of God/s Grace, Mercy and Salvation. Providing an environment in which the work of the Holy Spirit is displayed in the lives of the adults around them is the best way to encourage the youth to seek Christ for their lives. Establishing this environment, where faith in Christ is demonstrated and knowledge of God is taught through the interaction of young people and the leaders of this ministry, is the goal.

Spouse: Paul Stevenson

I started serving as the Church Secretary in May of 2009 after having had a career in early childhood education.  My responsibilities include maintaining records, mailings, preparing the weekly bulletins, helping  the Program Director with the newsletter, correspondence, scheduling meetings and church use and a myriad of other things that come up in a day's time. No 2 days are  ever the same.  My goal is to do the things that will help our church function smoothly.

One of my favorite Bible verses is from the first verse of the Psalm 103 "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name".
