Offering & Special Offerings

The weekly offering is the responsibility of members and regular visitors to the church.

Occasionally, special offerings are shared with the church family if they are called to financially support missions, missionaries, etc.

Memorial & Honorarium Accounts

The First United Methodist Church of Nebraska City is excited to announce the creation of the following six memorial accounts:

· Missions (local, national, international)
· Worship (including choir, orchestra, praise band, audio/visual, etc.)
· Education (including youth, small groups, Bible studies, etc.)
· Scholarships (traditional and non-traditional students)
· Building & Grounds
· Unrestricted Endowment the ultimate memorial gift, for unforeseen future needs.

Memorials
In the event of a death in the church congregation, the family of the deceased have the opportunity to designate their memorials be directed to one or more of these six accounts.  These memorials are an eternal gift that provides benefits to the congregation year after year.

Consider making a provision in your will to contribute to one of these accounts from your estate.

Honorariums
These accounts are also a great way to honor someone by giving through the church. Consider making gifts to these accounts to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, retirements and other special occasions.

You don’t have to give thousands or even hundreds of dollars to make a difference.  Each gift, no matter the amount, is important. 

Combining our members’ generosity will help First United Methodist Church’s mission of growing Disciples of Christ!

It is the goal of the Board of Trustees to build these accounts so that each may become permanent endowments that will create lasting gifts that continue to grow over time.

Letters will be sent by the church to the donors and to the families of those being remembered and or honored, recognizing the gift.

Unrestricted Endowments

An unrestricted endowment is an “everlasting” savings account. Endowed assets are invested to produce continual income. It allows your gift to keep on giving for good...forever.

Only the earnings will be spent...the principal remains untouched and continues to grow. It is like a well that will never go dry.

The earnings from endowments will be used to support our local church into eternity.

The unrestricted endowment will be valued by the next generation because we cannot predict the future needs of the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City.
