Jamaica Mission
Why Jamaica?
Most people think tropical paradise when they hear the word Jamaica. It’s easy to see why; the small Caribbean country has miles of sandy beaches and lush greenery. However, there is another side to the island.
Jamaica, a bustling vacation destination, is also an extremely poor country, filled with disease and hardship for the people who live there.
The Jamaica Mission Team is designed to help local Jamaican people with medical and non-medical issues they face, from illness to poor housing conditions to literacy.
You can help.
Mission Projects:
- Medical Clinic
- Dental Clinic (when we have a dentist)
- Build Playgrounds
- Build Small Homes
- Build Desks
- Provide Maintenance at Local Schools
- Major Contributions of Material/Labor at Local Nursing Home
- Teaching Bible School
- Teaching at the School
- Teaching Computer Classes
- Provide Health Teaching and Maintenance at Local Girls Home
The typical Jamaica Mission Team trip lasts 8 days in late January to early February and in late July to early August. We attempt to keep the cost around $850. That includes airfare, lodging, most meals and most activities during the trip. Anyone can join the next team, no matter their job skills, medical knowledge or experience. The age of our missionaries has ranged from teenagers to folks in their 80s!

Food Pantry
The Nebraska City Ministerial Association sponsors the Nebraska City Food Pantry with our church having the major volunteers behind the project. It is a project to provide food for needy families of Otoe County. We are open the first and third Mondays of each month from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. Many families are also helped on a call basis. We follow the words of Jesus as He said: “When you feed my brothers you feed me”. For more information please contact Keitha Thomson at 402-873-7889 or Slim Steinman at 402-873-2058.
